China surpasses U.S. in energy consumption
PARIS (UPI) -- China officially became the world's most voracious
energy-consumer last year, the International Energy Agency in Paris
said Monday. China's energy consumption in 2009, the equivalent of
burning 2.3 billion tons of oil, outpaced that of the United States by
4 percent, The Wall Street Journal reported.
